Cefdinir is an antibiotic used in the treating a wide range of bacterial infections, which includes certain types of pneumonia, sore throat, strep throat, middle-ear infections, sinusitis and some skin infections. Cefdinir belongs to the group of antibiotics called cephalosporin, which halts the growth of bacteria or kills them. It does work for viral infections like flu, and common cold. Cefdinir Dosage

This medicine should be taken through the mouth, with food or without it, normally once per day, or two times daily every twelve hours or as your doctor directs. Do not exceed the recommended dose of 600 mg per day. It usually comes in a Cefdinir 300 mg capsules, and in a powder form of 125 or 250 mg to be mixed with water.

600 mg is the total daily dose for every infection apart from skin infections and pneumonia. It can be taken two times in a day in doses of 300 mg or a single 600 mg dose. The drug works more effectively if the time of taken it is the same every day.

For skin infections and pneumonia, take cefdinir dosing of 300 mg two times a day. Children should take cefinidir two times a day for skin infections.
For kids between 6 months to 12 years old that are taking the liquid form of Cefdinir, 14 mg is the daily dose for every infection up to 600 mg daily maximum; this depends on the child’s weight. Ensure you contact the center for poison control in your locality in case of over dose. In case you miss one dose of Cefdinir, endeavor you take it immediately you remember. Do not double your Cefdinir dosages skip any missed dose and take the next one at the expected time if it is almost the time for your next dose.
